Cheers to Scotty - Winner of American Idol

Well Kids, American Idol is officially over wah wah wahhhhhh.   I didn't miss a single episode, blogged about American Idol, had sleep overs with my grandma, and bugged my poor boyfriend to death about all of the contestants.

If you missed the final results show, you should probably go on to their website and watch it.  Performances from TLC and Tony Bennet!  I was glued to the TV.  Steven Tyler was the last performance, he sang Dream ON (Sans Aerosmith), after his performance there was a commercial break then the results.  Next thing I know I'm looking at the TV and thinking huh?! Did I change the channel, why is the news on? Nope, didn't change the channel, well I guess there is a bad storm coming.  I look down at my phone WHOA WAIT A MINUTE ITS  10:08!!!!! I fell asleep people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I missed the results!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I wasn't even tired, I'm really not sure what happened.  I was so anxiously waiting during that last commercial break then some how in those  2min I passed out!

Well all I can say is thank goodness for the internet.  It's the not the same as seeing it live, but at least I got to see it.  If any of you missed it, here you are :)

Off to enjoy my vaca :) Im in Chi-Town people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cheers to Prom and the Success of my Broha!

My little sister had prom and my brother graduated college! To major stepping stones.

First my brother.  Here is a man of inspiration.  My brother is the most amazing man I know.  He had to step up and be the "man of the house" as a teenager and helped out our mom with out speaking a word.  Meaning he has done many things to save us, provide food for us, and keep my sisters and I from knowing some scary truths.  He has never boasted, mentioned them, or asked for a pat on the back.  My brother did these things because he loves us.

Now on stepping away from the gooshy stuff :)

The world is currently at his finger tips, he is a very talented writer...oh hey while we are on that subject here is his book of poetry you can check out, Titled Instinctual Manipulation.  I am at awe of his writing ability in this book however he says he has progressed so much as a writer since this was published.

Who knows where the world will take this man

Me and Brother

Brother and Girlfriend
Mom and Brother
The two graduates.
My step dad was supposed to graduate this day as well with his PhD.
He didn't want to take away from my brother, what a guy!
So here is to both the Joshs'! Cheers!!!

Now sweet little Moe Moe, the last little baby has finally attended the last high school function for our family.  Well aside from graduation.  Brooke (my other sister) couldn't be here she's away at school, however she as here to celebrate in spirit :).  I have to say I am so proud of my family who they are and where they are going.  We all get there in our own time and in unconventional ways, but what matters is we get there.  We like to take our own journeys and not miss out on life along the way :)

Brookie is here in Spirit :)

Moe Moe and I getting her ready for Prom

Precious

While my sister was getting her hair done, I def asked the hair dress to spray sparkles in my hair, then latter said.  Ya know Morgan my dress still fits me, why don't I just tag along?  She wasn't down for it, so all the adults had cocktails after they left :)

Congratulations to my sweet family and to all the other graduates out there.  Or anyone who has currently completed a stepping stone.  Whether it be paying a bill, not eating that stupid cookie, or landing a promotion.

Cheers to You!

Cheers to the love my life

Not sure if anyone has been watching this season's American Idol, but if you haven't, you should.  Wednesday the Top 3 are performing 3 songs each!

Well, my favorite got the boot a few weeks ago, his name is Paul McDonald, this is him...
Isn't he the cutest!!!
I think Paul getting sent home was for the best, he is a very seasoned artist but I'm not sure American Idol was the right audience for him.  He actually performed with his band at Bonnaroo a few years ago!  Maybe I'll run into him this summer when I go! Hmmm...
Now here is a little background on Paul.  He is from Alabama, then moved to the place that will always have my heart and my sweet home state Tennessee.  He also is/was (not sure of the current status if he went solo or not) part of a band called The Grand Magnolias.  I recently bought some of my favorite covers he performed on American Idol from itunes. Folsom Prison Blues by the ever lovely Johnny Cash, Pick me up by Ryan Adams, and That's Why They Call it the Blues by Elton John.

I'm sure we've all heard That's why they call it the blues, for me it was one of those songs that I knew the chorus but wasn't sure the story of the song.  I literally just looked the lyrics up and instantly started balling.

Now this brings me to why the title of this post is Cheers to the love of my life...

No, Elton John and Paul McDonald aren't the loves of my life...my sweet sweet boyfriend Jordan is. Jordan and I didn't start out in a long distant relationship, his dream is to make it to the majors for baseball and in order to provide himself the best situation he had to transfer schools. So he has been in Indiana since Fall 2010.  I see him most weekends, but it's still hard, those 2 days in Heaven on earth are never enough. He is going to Iowa in a few weeks to play summer ball.  I am so so excited for him, but the sad part is I will probably only see him 3 times this summer.  Eeekkk! but I have our love to keep me strong.

Just like poems, I think songs, you can make your own, you can apply them to make sense in your life.  To me this song is about a couple who has to be away from each other but he says please know I will come back and this wont be forever, so hold on until we can be together again, it won't take long.  I love you and I will always be your man.

Here are the Lyrics...
Don't wish it away
Don't look at it like it's forever
Between you and me
I could honestly say
That things can only get better

And while I'm away
Dust out the demons inside
And it won't be long
Before you and me run
To the place in our hearts
Where we hide

And I guess that's why
They call it the blues
Time on my hands
Could be time spent with you
Laughing like children
Living like lovers
Rolling like thunder under the covers
And I guess that's why
They call it the blues

Just stare into space
Picture my face in your hands
Live for each second
Without hesitation
And never forget I'm your man

Without me girl
Cry in the night if it helps
But more than ever I simply love you
More than I love life itself

And I guess that's why
They call it the blues
Time on my hands
Could be time spent with you
Laughing like children
Living like lovers
Rolling like thunder under the covers
And I guess that's why
They call it the blues

Wait on me girl
Cry in the night if it helps
But more than ever I simply love you
More than I love life itself

And I guess that's why
They call it the blues
Time on my hands
Could be time spent with you
Laughing like children
Living like lovers
Rolling like thunder under the covers
And I guess that's why
They call it the blues

And here is Paul performing it on American Idol ...

Paul may be easy on the eyes and I may love his music and cover of this song...
but he's got nothing on my man ;)

Have a beautiful Saturday everyone

XOXO,
Brittney
